Garden Open House on July 20: Native Plants, Pollinators, and Composting with Worms!

Join us on July 20 for our 3rd Saturday “A Day in the Garden” Open House!

WHAT’S HAPPENING:

1. GARDEN WITH US IN OUR NATIVE PLANT STREETSCAPE
Participate in activities around pollination, pollinators, and gardening for wildlife with our resident expert Chris Kreussling, aka Flatbush Gardener.
• We will dissect Daylillies — they are colorful, in bloom and have all the parts!
• We will learn about pollination, and the importance of pollinators — looking for pollinators in the gardens and on the grounds, and how to identify some common pollinators.

Lots to learn in the Native Plant Streetscape!

2. WORM BIN COMPOSTING WORKSHOP:
This hands-on workshop, which teaches the essentials of indoor composting with worms, is ideal for those who want to compost food scraps but do not have access to an outdoor space. Learn from garden educator Bruni Torras how easy it is to reduce the amount of food waste in your garbage. Take home a small bag of worm compost to spread on your own plants!

  • Thank you for putting the indoor worm composting workshop together. I’ve been looking on the internet and this seems to be getting more and more popular. I found this page on the best worm bin. Do you think this will work well or is there something better?
